Our #SurviveAndThrive programme has created a one-stop-shop to support charities and non profits through the cost of living crisis. It enables you to find grant funding, free fundraising help, pro bono advice and resources, including planning tools, checklists and templates and connects you to a network of 100s of charities and companies that provide free support and grant funding.
The main health-check system now includes crisis assessment and is supported by the Funding Finder, Help Finder and Data Finder online directories, plus a whole package of crisis assessments, tools, templates and planning guides to help any non-profit to assess, plan and respond to the crisis.
The AI Tech Bunnies not only help you to navigate the system and find what you want, they also provide welfare support to individuals and families, by connecting you to funding and help. Click the bunny icon in the bottom right of your screen, ask it short questions about any problem you have, including key words and it will connect you to grant sources and/or people who will help you. If you are being abused, it will find people to help you protect yourself, but will not ask for or record any personal or location information, so chatting to them is totally conifidential.
Use Funding Finder, to find a huge range of grants, including using its Crisis Funding search category, but I've also put a selection of crisis grants online. There's also Help Finder that finds lots of free fundraising support and also companies that make product/financial donations. There's also the fundraising online health check, with 50+downloadable funder lists and the huge resource base.

20+ ways to generate new funding and find new sources of grant funding from charitable trusts and foundation and other income for UK charities and non profits, including a number you may never have thought about before.
Our UK charity sector strategic outlook for 2023 to use for crisis strategic planning and fundraising strategy. What the future might look like for the sector, the key issues and the steps you should consider for your own charity in responding.
On 8 September we published our Charity Sector Crisis Impact Assessment & Forecast to support sector bodies in planning and lobbying Government and to provide data to help grant makers. It uses Charity Excellence Big Data and a new predictive model to forecast the possible impact of the crisis on the sector in 2023, in comparison to our historical Covid crisis data. It identifies the key issues and steps that sector bodies, grant makers and Government could take to respond to the crisis.
In August, we created crisis tracking metrics to enable us to assess the path of the crisis on an ongoing basis and in more detail, to support the wider sector and individual charities.
These comprise 5 existing metrics from the top-level Resilience Model, plus 6 new ones based on our crisis analysis. These track issues such as the viability of funding pipelines and liquidity, and key people issues.
At the end of each month, we publish our latets Crisis Impact Update - where we are now, what we think will happen and when, and what you can do about it.
To support those working in developing and planning the sector's response, the multiple crisis data sources we use in our monthly charity sector crisis impact assessment and forecast have been uploaded into our free Data Finder. Most have links to numerous other related data sources.
Use 'Cost of Living' in the Key Word search. For associated data, use the Poverty & Deprivation, Economy & Finance, or Transport & Housing categories.
In 2020, we used the data from our Covid crisis tracking metrics to create the Covid Toolbox. The initial 5 emergency toolkits and funder list were accessed nearly 40,000 times.
We have used our Covid experience and built on this to create the Cost-of-Living Crisis Toolbox of 10 toolkits. Practical resources, templates and checklists to plan and respond to the crisis, including strategy, business planning, fundraising strategy, forecasting income, financial management and sustainability planning, cost reduction, an energy saving toolkit and managing cash in a crisis.
Score your 8 Charity Excellence questionnaires and the systems crisis statements will identify the key issues for your charity and connect you to the resources and help you need.
Click the Resilience score on your interactive dashboard for a full resilience report and links to resources and help, then Export to download an action plan.
Or select Crisis Planning in the query system for the same but for just your crisis assessment statements.
Each statement is linked to the relevant crisis toolkits and other relevant resources and help. As the crisis develops, we'll use our crisis tracking to identify emerging key issues and either source or create new resources and support.
The new free charity Help Finder directory supports your charity in responding to the cost of living crisis by finding advice, pro bono support and free services, product and financial donations provided by 100s and 100s of charities and companies. There are 19 categories to choose from - everything from consultancy, donated items and fundraising, through to social media, software and volunteering. Here's the demo video (2 mins) and you can also visit the Free Goods & Services page to find about 50 of these. A huge thank you to Access Group Non Profit who stepped foward and provided the development funding to make Help Finder possible.
To make fundraising bids, fundraising research, communications, impact reports, planning and campaigning really effective you need compelling facts and figures. But data can be complicated and everybody is incredibly busy. Data Finder is a really easy to use system that not only does that for you, but also finds organisations that will help you and free data tools.
To make sure it works for everyone, you can choose from 3 levels of data size/complexity - from key facts and analysis, through to data catalogues and huge data portals that cover a wide range of categories. Some have 1000+ data sets and tens of millions of pieces of data. However, almost all have key facts and analysis, and many interactive maps and graphs, so can be easily used by almost anyone. Watch the demo video (3 min) and read more here to see how it will help your charity.
Crisis Coalition members are organisations that are providing crisis specific additional support to the sector. That may be webinars, events, resources or support to Charity Excellence in doing so, but does not include delivery of normal support. We list these and other sources of help on our #SurviveAndThrive web page to provide a central location for crisis support and promote these, using our newsletters and social media, which can reach up to 200,000 charities.
A registered charity ourselves, we provide 8 online health checks, the huge information hub, Quality Mark and 3 online directories.
Plus the system health check now includes crisis assessment, the Charity Sector outlook supports your planning, there’s the Crisis Toolbox. As well as guides on how to how to find new sources of funding, reduce your energy costs, save money without cost cutting and the crisis hub, with links to even more support.
