Charity Excellence Birthday Party Presents - June 2026

Join the part - we have pizza, music, chocolate and sweets!

Charity Excellence Birthday Party

We launched on my birthday - 2 June 2018 and by the end of 2021 we were the largest UK charity community. Since then, that number has tripled to 50k.  For each birthday and Christmas we have presents for the front line charities because you're brilliant.  This year, I have Kate helping to build our presents, so you're getting even more.

Everyone loves pizza!

Santa's Pizza. No, that's not a typo. Set up by a Palestinian, the original name for the sign came back with a typo and he just went with it. I think I like these people.

The Lancashire pizza chain say that they regularly supports charitable causes across the North-West. They have branches in Queensgate, Ightenhill, Nelson, Accrington, Blackburn and Preston.

They don't have a charity page but (in May 2025) donated £1,000 to the Mayor's fund, have donated food to families at Ramadan and supported a local hospice.

A Palestinian pizza maker who supports charity had to be our favourite but we have lots more..............

Company Details
Chickpea Group The Salisbury based Chick Pea Group operates 7 pubs and pizza establishments in Wiltshire, including Zeals, Wilton, Broad Chalke, Pitton, and Hindon. The Chickpea and Friends Fund supports local organisations, charities, good causes and individuals throughout Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset. They support a broad range of groups, with amounts from £100 up to the biggest I found of £7,000. Most are £1000 or less. Key words: local community. Added Apr 25.
Franco Manca The UK-based pizzeria chain has its head office in London and 70 locations. Mainly England, including cities like London, Brighton, Bath, Bristol, Cambridge, Leeds, Manchester, and Oxford, but also Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Cardiff. They say - over the years we have donated thousands of pizzas to local food banks, shelters, homeless charities & the emergency services. Just fill in the web form. Here's their location finder - https://www.francomanca.co.uk/pizzerias/ My AI advises that they've also helped in other ways but there's nothing on the website. Added May 25.
Pizza Hut They have a long term partnership with Mental Health UK but they also say that all of our Huts have the ability to donate food to local good causes. they have 86 outlets in England, Scotland and Wales, including most major cities. Location Finder - https://www.pizzahut.co.uk/restaurants/find Added May 25.
Pizza Pilgrims The London based company (it's a B Corp) has 25 sites, mainly in London but also regional locations in Cambridge,  Brighton, Leeds, Cardiff, Nottingham, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh. Dip To Donate initiative seems to mainly involve making a donation for their charity partner for items sold. Currently, it' 5p from every crust dipper sold. Individual restaurants and the company engage in direct community support, including: meal donations to food banks and homelessness organisations, Pay It Forward Pizza, where customers can buy an extra pizza for someone in need and local collaborations, such as pizza-making classes and ingredient donations to social supermarkets. They also have team volunteering days, work with education providers and have gifted free pizzas, offer meeting spaces, and conduct social media giveaways.
PizzaExpress Pizza Express head office is in Uxbridge (London) and has 300+ UK outlets. It has a number of charity partnerships, most cause related. My AI says that it it actively engages in fundraising, donations, and community initiative, but all I can find is this statement on their customer support page in response to a raffle request - please speak to your local pizzeria to see if they can help you directly. Worth a try.

No party would be complete without some music

Metal for Good.  Yes, that's right heavy metal does charity.

They fund UK community groups, charities and non-profit organisations and projects that use music and the values of the rock and metal community to help create an equal society.

Grants up to £3000 to deliver community projects that use music as a tool for change.  In 2024, they made grants of 1 x £3000, 2 x £2000 and 3 X £1000.

The 2nd round in 2026 will be 24 Aug – 7 Sep.

I saw Motorhead live in Aberdeen (some time ago), so Metal for Good had to be our favourite pick.

Company Details
Rough Trade Rough Trade is a well-known independent music retailer with locations in the UK and the United States. They are primarily focused on selling music, vinyl records, and other related items. They have supported charitable causes, most recently the one I've posted a link to - the mental health charity CALM but have also supported Shelter. There doesn't appear to be a charity or CSR page, so probably one for the professionals unless you know someone in the company. They have several stores in London, plus Bristol and Nottingham. Store locator.
P&J Live The Aberdeen based company is an events venue, designed to host everything from global music acts to major conferences and exhibitions. It has a charity of the year and supply a raffle prize for another charity, if you wish to make a request - email info@pandjlive.com.
Cream Global - Creamfields An events company, their charity support seems only to be via a major music festival held in Daresbury (Cheshire). Their Community Fund, focused on areas impacted by the event in Halton and Warrington. It has contributed over £500,000 over the past decade, providing small grants (typically up to £750) for projects supporting young people, those most in need, and local cultural or music activity. Additional microgrant funding (£10,000 pot) has supported grassroots groups such as family centres, carers forums, WI groups and scouts. Support also includes donations to local events, hospitals, parish projects (e.g. defibrillators, safety initiatives), fundraising via raffles for national charities, and in‑kind support through redistribution of festival equipment to charities.
Boardmasters Boardmasters is a five-day event in Cornwall for music and surf lovers hosted in two locations – Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay. Funds are distributed as one-off donations and they also work with long-term partners. They fund individuals, groups, charities and organisations that fall within: culture; heavily involved with and promotes surfing, music, creativity, education and/or Cornish culture and community, which has 2 parts. In the immediate festival vicinity, (Newquay, Porth, Whipsiderry, Tregurrian, Watergate Bay and Fistral. Or within Cornwall, supporting diversity and inclusion (accessibility, gender equality, LGBTQIA+, POC and minority groups) and/or improving and raising awareness of issues such as homelessness, mental health and negative environmental impacts. Annual funding round. In 2024, they raised £142,000.
Cuffe & Taylor A live music and event promotion company, part of Live Nation UK, delivering large‑scale outdoor concerts and festivals across England. It supports charities through event‑based fundraising and visibility, selecting charity partners for specific event days, at multiple locations including Lytham Festival in Lancashire, Chelmsford City Live in Essex, Live at Powderham in Devon, Scarborough Open Air Theatre in North Yorkshire, Live at The Piece Hall in Halifax, West Yorkshire, and Live at Lincoln Castle in Lincolnshire. Support access to large audiences (some 20k) for fundraising and promotion, and includes donated tickets for charity fundraising. They don't have a charity web page. I'd try the festival websites.
Balstock Festival A free music festival run in Baldock, Herts by a CIC in Sep each year. Proceeds are donated to local charities who can also have stalls at the festival. They've raised more than £80,000 for good causes since 2006.
Tramlines The Sheffield music festival in July raises funds for local charities, offers work placements to local people and students, donates tickets to local communities and offers paid opportunities to local and emerging artists. They also plant trees. I'm a gardener and I like that. The Tramlines Trust awarded £58,000 in 2025. The Trust is a micro trust of GivingWorks (charity no:1078870). I think they prioritise Hillsborough (Sheffield) where they are based.

Charity Excellence 2.0 is coming.....

The original plan was to give the CEF to the main sector umbrella bodies, but they weren't interested. In hindsight, that was exactly the right outcome. Because what we're building now is better. Two years ago, we started mapping the entire UK infrastructure network - where they are, who and/or the causes they support and the various services they provide.  National, regional, local, the lot; 400 done, about 200 to go.

Charity Excellence 2.0 delivers across the 8 areas you've told us you actually need - deployed directly to the front-line support charities best placed to use it. Bespoke, practical, low-cost. As always.

And we're not just giving them our existing capabilities but also new support to create a righteous cycle that will create a UK wide network of collaborative support that enables them to thrive and grow.

To get there, we need funding. We're launching a crowdfunder during #SmallsForSmalls Week, starting 22 June. More details coming - but if you ever wanted to be part of building something that actually changes how the sector works, this is for you!

For your goodie bag to take home, who doesn't like chocolate?

Company Details
Tony's Chocolony Ethical chocolate manufacturer that has its own foundation. It finances activities and projects using these guidelines: Creating conditions that ban slavery; stimulating consumer awareness and inspire and activate other key players (politics, governments and companies). It's supported projects in a range of areas, including education and micro-loans. Focussed on cocoa producing nations, such as the Ivory Coast, Ghana and Burkino Faso. It also makes chocolate donations to charities but these are now restricted to those working on its mission to reduce exploitation within cocoa production. Please do not apply if you aren't. Seems to be based in Amsterdam but has a UK office in Richmond. However, their UK distributors are Boughey Distribution Ltd in Cheshire. My thanks to Tamsym Wymer who helped me to update this entry.
Galaxy Chocolate As a commercial company I thought they wanted to make profit. However, they say that 'this is about a lot more than creating delicious Galaxy® chocolate. It’s about our commitment to meaningfully improving lives in cocoa growing communities'. They say their aim is to empower women in cocoa growing regions and young women in the UK through a charity partnership. In 2025, they donated £150k to their partner. They seem to have 2 international partners with an activity focus on Africa but they've also supported work in Indonesia. My thanks to Tamsyn Wymer for helping me to update this entry.
Moo Free Chocolate Moo Free are based in Holsworthy (near Bude) in Devon, they have supported various local charities. Scroll down to the Community section. They also make donations of chocolate and have made financial donations - Charitable Donations section. Both sections at the bottom of heir Ethical Policy page.
Rococo Chocolates The London based company has stores in Chelsea and Marylebone. It says that the themes behind most of its charitable donations are supporting some of the most vulnerable people in society, as well as fighting food waste. Partners seem to be quite high profile and UK wide. They also support other charities through participation at Christmas and other public fairs. They have 2 charity partners but support others - from helping schools raise funds for special projects, to contributing prizes for local Women's Institute chapters to auction off at events, we are proud to see our chocolates used as a force for Good. Worth a punt for some chocolate but they also offer corporate experiences for companies, which might be worth a try.
Charbonnel et Walker Charbonnel et Walker, the luxury chocolate company, are partners with the Cocoa Horizons Foundation, a Not-for-Profit organisation supporting 100% sustainably sourced cocoa in West Africa. However, they have partnered with UK charities, such as Oxfam but I think this was some sort of deal selling their products, rather than a simply donation. They're a UK company with stores in London and one in Leeds. They have partnered with at least one UK charity - Marie Curie in 2024, but that was the charity selling their products, so presumably a commercial arrangement.
Cocoa Loco Cocoa Loco describe themselves as chocolate artisans, producing handmade organic chocolate products using fairtrade certified ingredients, including vegan products. To raise money for your UK charity by receiving a 10% commission when your supporters / members purchase chocolate from them, fill in this form. They're based in West Sussex.
Cupsmith The family-run business, makes speciality coffees, luxury hot chocolates and organic teas, which are sold by Selfridges, Waitrose, Ocado and many independent shops and cafes in the UK. The products are also sold in the US and Europe. Based in Evesham with a factory in Sidmouth, near Exeter airport. They only support one charity, Music as Therapy International, with a donation made for every packet sold. They also feature the charity’s logo on the packet to help introduce and promote the charity’s work to new audiences.
Meaningful Chocolate Company A UK Fairtrade chocolate company based in Cheshire. They say that a big chunk of their profits are given to registered charities that have a social good at their heart. We support the promotion of healthy lifestyles. Their farmers receive a guaranteed price for their cocoa and sugar as well as a Fairtrade Growers' Premium of $500 a tonne to invest in their community’s well-being. As of January 2024 they say they have helped raise over £380,000 from sales supporting charitable causes, development and education projects globally.
Divine Chocolate Divine Chocolate is a global social enterprise in Ghana (women led, I think) that aims to help end exploitation in the cocoa industry. If you want to ask for samples, please note that they only provide chocolate samples to marketing partners or organisations that are related to West Africa, Fairtrade, Social Enterprise or B Corp. They have partnered with charities to sell their products. For example, Oxfam in 2024. They seem to be based in London and Washington. They have partnered with UK charities, such as Oxfam. Added Apr 24.
Godiva Chocolate The Lady Godiva Global Initiative - each year they select a group of organisations around the globe that are working to empower women. Each receives a grant and other support.
Haigh’s Chocolates The South Australian based chocolate company has a longstanding commitment to support the community through activities such as sponsorship, donations, fundraising and partnerships. They also make product donations.
Purdys Chocolatier The chocolate company operates over 80 shops across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario, in Canada. To request a donation, fill in the online form but you must be able to collect from a shop, so not really workable if you're in the UK: pity. Their Purple Partnerships initiative partners with organisations to support their missions, strengthen their voice, and inspire Purdy's and their communities to stand for the same values. The communities and causes they focus on are: The 2SLGBTQ+ Community, Black, Indigenous and People of Colour Communities, Women, and Young People Facing Vulnerabilities, Women’s Health Causes and Sustainable Cocoa. Key words: LGBTQI+.
Kinnerton Ltd The company is London based (Camden) confectionery company best known character-themed chocolates—think Easter eggs, advent calendars, and chocolate bars featuring popular kids’ brands like Peppa Pig and Barbie. They’re also a leader in allergen-safe chocolate, producing nut-free and vegan-friendly treats under their NOMO brand. They have manufacturing sites in - Fakenham, Norfolk and Sherburn-in-Elmet, North Yorkshire. On their FAQs page (at the bottom), they say that they are unable to donate to individual events but actively support our corporate charities, Help for Heroes and MacMillian Cancer Support. They say that they give 1% of profit every year to charity and offer employees one day per year of paid leave to support their corporate charity or a charity of their choice. I've seen donations of circa £4k to local charities.
Lindt Chocolate The provide 10 donations a month for registered charities, schools and hospitals supporting families and children based in their local area (TW14 - Greater London/Surrey area). They don't provide donations June, July, or August due to the high temperatures. Consequently, I'm guessing the donations are chocolate, not money.
Gilbert & Swayne The Glastonbury based company (Somerset) is a handmade artisan chocolate maker. For all online sales, 50% of profit will be donated to their partner charities and they say that they regularly donate boxes of chocolates for charity raffles & gift vouchers for one day chocolate making courses for fund raising events. One of the owners was previously involved in running multi ethnic youth programmes in Kosovo & community action in schools.

But if you don't, we have sweets too

Company Details
Burts Crisps Devon based, the company supports a number of national charities, but also local ones too. They donate products and support fundraising events.
Hammond’s Candies Hammonds Candies is a Denver based confectionery company, which donates products for raffles, silent auctions, and other events, with non-profits operating from their home state of Colorado in the USA taking precedence. Fill in the online form.
Haribo They say they offer help when and where they can (Q6 in FAQs). Worth a try. No online application form, but there's a contact link, bottom left on the web page. However, probably better to try their stores. There's an 'Our Stores' link to these in the top right of the web page. Their 2 factories in Pontefract and Castleford, West Yorkshire might also be worth a try. Imagine how many gummy bears they have in an entire factory?
Maynards Basset I can't find a UK office or site but Mondelez operates across nine sites in the UK, which include six factories and three R&D sites - see the Mondelez entry for these.. Maynards sold wine gums and Jelly Babies during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month for CLIC Sergeant and supported Help for Heroes with a limited edition run of Jelly Babies to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day in 2024. For CLIC, they donated 5p per pack sold.
Nestle The company says it would like to help everyone, but can't. However, if you are organizing an event for a charity or good cause local to one of their sites, you can contact them and they may be able to help. Nestlé is a food and beverage company, with factories in 80+ countries and offices and R&D centres across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania, plus major regional hubs in the U.S., UK, Brazil, China, India, and the Middle East. Not small then. They have UK sites in Gatwick (Sussex), York (Yorkshire), Halifax (Yorkshire), Dalston (Cumbria), Girvan (Ayrshire), Tutbury (Staffordshire), Buxton (Derbyshire), Welwyn Garden City (Hertfordshire), Liverpool (Merseyside), and Croydon (London), supporting operations from confectionery and pet care to bottled water and health science.
Swizzels Sweets Want to help support the most vulnerable and disadvantaged and do what they can by donating sweets to many worthwhile causes. Based in Matlock (Derbyshire), they also support local charities and schools - make financial and sweet donations, and have allowed use of their facilities.
Treat Kitchen The Nottingham based company sustainable sweet gifts, like vegan sweets in reusable message bottles. They say that they are proud to support local charities and initiatives and work closely with a number of fantastic organisations. The web page is incomplete, so either it's brand new or charity work isn't as important as they say it is. I'd get in contact. Let me know how you get on and I'll update this entry.
World of Sweets The Leicestershire based company is the UK’s largest distributor, importer and wholesaler of confectionery. They also trade as Hancocks Cash & Carrys and Bobbys, in a dozen locations across the UK, including Loughborough, Belfast, Portsmouth, Glasgow, Watford, Featherstone, Pontefract, and Bradford. They say that, every two years, they partner with national charities and also provide local support. I can't find a charity web page but there is information in their ESG sustainability report. This info was from 2024 plus research. They've donated over £75,000 to local and national charities since 2020, partnered with charities to make an impact through product purchases (one I found raised £18,000), contributed £10,000 in stock giveaways in the last 12 months to support community groups and sponsored numerous sporting teams and charity events.

And if that's completely worn you out.......

We have spa days too so you can relax. Mini Ding is a bit of a work/life balance expert.  If you feel a twinge of anxiety, a bit tired or just slightly jaded, he recommends lying down on the floor in a nice patch of warm sun and having a snooze. See below for a demonstration but be aware this may not work quite as well in an office environment.

Champneys Hertfordshire spa is just down the road from us. In the past they've helped purchase specialist equipment such as wheelchairs, play and sensory room equipment, computers and car seats. Regular fundraising events are held throughout the year and they also organise high-profile challenge events.

They particularly like to support charities nominated by guests and welcomes requests. Applications for grants can be made by email or in writing. They have 5 other resorts in Hampshire, Bedfordshire, Leicestershire, Cheshire, and Kent.

If you're not a Home Counties type, we have others across the UK.

Captain's Club Hotel and Spa The Captains Club Hotel is based in Christchurch (BH23), Dorset. The company says it helps a number of their favourite local charities through fundraising and event sponsorship.
Experience Days For UK registered charities they donate gift vouchers, up to the value of £50 or provide any of their experiences for an auction at “cost price”. Apply by completing the online request.
Fairlawns Hotel & Spa Based in Walsall, West Midlands (WS9), they fundraise for a number of large charity partners. They also sponsor staff fundraising by making a cash donation, for registered charities holding a fundraising event in their facilities, they donate a raffle prize and donate 5% of the hotel food and bar sales. They also offer free meeting rooms in the evenings to any registered charity, and they encourage staff to take part in national or local events – if you have any suggestions email them. Finally, they will consider ‘one off’ charitable donations to any community facility or equipment fundraising event within that benefits communities with a (Walsall) WS Postcode.
Into The Blue Based in Biggin Hill, London, they are an experience day gift company that offers a wide range of UK wide adventure activities, from flying lessons to spa days. They say that they often contribute to raffles and competitions. Prizes range from £20 gift tokens to experience days. They meet monthly to discuss and select applications. Just complete the online application.
Ragdale Hall Spa The Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire company says it supports charities and organisations, both locally and nationally, by hosting events, donating vouchers and spa day packages. They also have their Ragdale Hall Community Chest’ initiative and say that over the years we have been able to support in excess of 150 different organisations with over £150,000. They also say they prioritise local charities in the communities near to the Hall.
Rudding Park Set in 300 acres, with a golf course and rooftop spa, the company is a luxury hotel and resort located just outside Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Their Giving Something Back initiative supports Yorkshire-based charities and community organisations with gift vouchers and other forms of support to aid fundraising, including hosting charity events, such as an annual carol service, skincare and makeup workshops for people undergoing cancer treatment and specialist spa treatments. However, my thanks to Sue Kemp of Door 84, for letting me know the website is wrong and they now only support organisations in Harrogate They were one of the first UK spas to offer treatments for those living with or beyond cancer, with therapists trained in oncology care.
